The Open Nordic Championship for OK-dinghies 2021 in Varberg is cancelled and will be rescheduled to 2022. The Nordic OK-dinghy associations have agreed to give Varbergs Segelsällskap the possibility to host the championship 2022.
The reason for the cancellation is of course the covid 19 situation and the uncertainty concerning restrictions. Just now Norwegian sailors who travel to Sweden must spend 10 days in quarantine when coming back to Norway. Sailors coming to Sweden shall, according to the Public Health Authority, take a test and then spend seven days without having contact with other persons, even if the test is negative.
The regional Infection Control Unit has also adviced us to reschedule the event.
There are only three weeks to the championship and with so many uncertainties we have taken the decision to cancel the 2021 event.
Next year we hope to face a totally different situation where we can meet in Varberg without restrictions, enjoy good racing and have a beer together.
